We are incredibly proud of our student athletes. Our team experienced a demanding 2019-2020 competitive season, yet, while both on the road as well as at home, they demonstrated commitment to their demanding academic studies. With a sudden provincial shift to remote learning in March 2020, our team members strived to “hold high the torch” and demonstrated a continued focus on their studies. Congratulations to the 2019-2020 Prep Flames team on achieving such high standards in your studies amidst such uncertain times. We wish you continued success in the 2020-2021 school year.
We are proud to share that the following players have made commitments to their post-secondary institutions:
Jessica Haner – committed to the University of Manitoba for the 2021-2022 season
Ashley Keller – committed to the University of Manitoba for the 2021-2022 season
Julia Bird – committed to the University of Manitoba for the 2021-2022 season
Emily Shippam – committed to the University of Manitoba for the 2021-2022 season
Our Flames Prep Hockey Team began working on skills and training in late August. With the restrictions experienced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been fortunate to have well-developed protocols and safety measures in place.
As October arrived, our 2020-2021 team members, along with their coaching staff, welcomed the phasing in of exhibition games at a provincial level within Manitoba, within a small cohort of approved teams.
We continue to provide our program of excellence within an ever changing and evolving environment in response to the COVID-19 situation. Current processes are consistently reviewed and updated as needed. We are working diligently to ensure that the environment for our team remains safe so that they may continue to train and compete as a team and remain focussed on their studies at St. Mary’s Academy.
update as of October 30, 2020:
In response to current Public Health orders in the Greater Winnipeg region, practices and games are suspended until restrictions are changed. We will update our site with changes during this timeframe. We are all doing our part to ensure that our players, their families, our staff and all our community members remain healthy.
Let’s all do our part to make a difference.
